Field guide
How to do everything in Civet.
The same guide lives in the app, under Help. If it doesn’t cover your question, email us: a person answers, usually within one business day. No chatbot, no ticket maze.

Add a language (for example French)
Languages are added in Shopify, not in Civet: Shopify admin > Settings > Languages > Add language. It can stay unpublished while you translate. Then open Civet's Home page, pick it in the Language list and click Preview translations. Publish the language in Settings > Languages (for the markets that should see it) once the main pages are translated. Each plan includes a number of languages; extra ones show 'needs a bigger plan' in the list.

Preview, approve and apply a translation run
Home > choose a language, how many products, what to translate (products, collections, pages, blog posts, menus, policies) and which fields > Preview translations. The run opens in Review & history: each field shows the original, what's live now and the new translation. Edit any line, then Save & approve. Approve & apply to Shopify writes the translations into Shopify's own translation fields.

No. 03
Undo a run
Review & history > open the run > Undo this run. Fields edited after the run are left as they are. If later runs were applied on top, 'Restore to before this run' also undoes those runs.

Manual edits are kept
Translations edited by hand are locked: bulk runs skip them. To replace them, tick 'Overwrite fields I edited by hand' before Approve & apply to Shopify; Civet asks to confirm.

Glossary: keep brand names or force a translation
Glossary (Growth plan) > Add a term: Term, then 'Translate as' (leave blank to never translate it, for brand names) and Language (blank for all) > Add term.

Settings: auto-sync and translation style
Settings > 'Keep translations in sync automatically' (Starter and up): when a title, description or collection changes in Shopify, Civet translates the change in the background, never touching fields edited by hand. 'Translation style': Fast or More natural phrasing. 'Brand voice' (Growth) guides tone and word choice. Save settings.

No. 07
SEO check
SEO check lists missing SEO titles, descriptions and URL handles per language. 'What Civet can fix' can be translated in a run; 'Fix these in Shopify' needs a change in the Shopify admin.

Report a bug
Help > Report a bug (or 'Report a bug' on any translation run). Say what happened and send. Civet attaches the page and run you came from, your plan and the app version, never any customer data. You get a reference like CIV-4HPPDJ; mention it if you email us.
